BEING A PLUSSIZE COVERMODEL // Josephine Dahl

written by Josephine Dahl March 3, 2017

“We also have to shoot the cover” the stylist said casually on the shoot a few months ago. For them it was not a big deal and it was something that they had tried many times before. But for me, it was some extraordinary. And it would be my first cover ever.

In general it’s huge for models to be at the front side og magazines, but for a plus-size model, it is even bigger, because it moves boundaries and helps to regulate the image of the female body.

I thin, it is very important, that women in all sizes, races og ages have someone, they can relate to. In the past I no-one I could relate to in the medias. Because of that, I always compared myself with women, who were a lot thinner than me. That made me feel totally wrong. Therefor it is essential, that as many types of women as possible are represented in the medias. Nobody should have to feel wrong about themself. Thick, thin, tall, not tall – it is completely unimportant.
There is no right and wrong.

On the whole it is harmful to one’s self-esteem to compare yourself with others, because it will make you feel you’re not good enough.

We are all exactly as we should be.
